I have been soooo busy with subbing and photo shoots, that I've barely had a chance to take pictures of my own babies!! We went on a walk today to look at the fall foliage, and snapped a few pictures. They turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. They are getting so big!!!

Shopping for Brady

Okay, so another post within a month of my last one. That's gotta be a record. Here are some adorable moments that we captured on film....Abbie has really been interacting with Brady more and more lately. She's upset when he's crying, she loves to make him laugh, she often tickles him...She even asks "where's baby boy?" in the morning now. Good to know, since for about the first 5 months of his life she was in denial that he existed. She was pushing him in the shopping cart, which was so cute.

On a separate note..the days are getting a little harder for me now that the weather is getting chilly...less activity choices. We are still faithfully going to Mops, and BSF, and I've subbed a few times as well which definitely helps (although it's like a tease, because I really want to be teaching more than just a few times a month...), but we will get through it. God keeps me going...

I also booked TEN photo shoots for the month...and possibly a few more, so I have really been LOVING that!!! I'm learning a lot, and becoming a little obsessed with photoshop and "actions". Love it. Check out my photography blog: www.clearviewphotography.blogspot.com

The Old is Washed Away...

Well...I did something on Sunday morning that I've been wanting to do for a VERY long time, but have been putting it off because it is way, completely, out of my comfort zone, which is often the case when you are doing something for God...

I was baptized by my father in law on Sunday morning. I was baptized when I was around 5 (the Lutheran sprinkle kind) because my mom just thought it was the right thing to do...it wasn't a choice of mine, or an "outward profession of inward faith" as it needs to be. I accepted Christ when I was 11 and began a journey that has definitely had it's ups and downs, times of great growth, and times of stagnation. This year I've REALLY been praying for a year of growth. I feel like it's time for me to "step it up" and really get to know God. Becoming a junior high youth leader, and joining Bible Study Fellowship were definitely two things that were working towards this goal. Being baptized was a third. I know that Jesus commands us to follow his example and announce publicly that we are followers of him, but it was just so scary and uncomfortable to me that I kept putting it off. I knew that we were coming to Northern California to visit, and knew that John did baptisms, so thought I would ask...(I was honestly hoping he would say no...), but conveniently, he said yes. = ) So I did it. Took the "plunge", literally. = ) I feel it was an important step for me doing something uncomfortable, but something also that God commands. I know that God will reward my obedience. It was cool to do it in front of my family, so now...the "old" is washed away...

Fall Photo Shoot

Oh my gosh, it's been a while. I think I temporarily forgot I had a blog...anyway, I don't even know who is still checking this, but I thought I'd update it anyway...mostly for the Kerr's I think. HA! We just had a photo shoot with a photographer I found in Milwaukee. It was SO nice not to be the one taking the pictures and editing them! And...even better...she totally taught me some things. We've been corresponding via email, and she has given me so many "gems" of information about how to get pictures of this quality...not only with shooting with the camera, but also with photo editing techniques with photo shop. I'm excited to try some things out...I have a few shoots coming up next month...5 to be exact, so I can't wait to try out my new found knowledge...

Let's see, what else is going on? Brady is 19lbs, 27in. Yes, he is HUGE...well, not obese or anything, but the kid is definitely solid. He's scrumptious, I seriously want to inhale his cheeks. Abbie is talking up a storm (and repeating everything I say, so I have learned to be very careful), and she is a little princess. Shocker, she's my kid, isn't she??? We went on a cruise, and she was a doll the whole time...I'll post those pics later.

I am still in search of a part time teaching job. I'm subbing right now, but really would like to have a set schedule of time I get to be out of the house and teach. So, we'll see. I have a feeling the perfect thing is right around the corner, I'm trusting God.

I am starting BSF (Bible Study Fellowship, a national, intense bible study) this Wednesday, and am REALLY excited about where God is going to take me on this study. While I"m doing that, Abbie will be in her toddler class, which I heard is phenomenal. Brady will be with a friend...(thanks Amy!) I've also joined the leadership team at church and will be a small group junior high leader this year. I know, I'm insane, but I love that age group. They are so messed up. HA! I'm also on the steering committee for our MOPS group. I'm staying busy, taking after my "big sister" Wendy. = ) I can't have another year like I did last year where I felt like I was literally STUCK inside all year with nothing going on...so hopefully these things will remedy the situation. It's good for me, (and the kids.)

Busy Summer!!!

Okay, so I've come to the realization that I am not very good at keeping up with my blog. I'm trying, I swear!!! We've been busy so far this summer! I've done many photo shoots, and have been having so much fun with those, and meeting new people! We've been to parks, playdates, pool dates, climbing places so far, and we have been having so much fun! Grandma JJ and Papa came to visit a week ago, here are some of my faves from a photo shoot I did for JJ's birthday.

Here are some of my favorites from my most recent photo shoots. I did a maternity shoot this evening, and then I have two newborn shoots at the end of the month.

We have gone to this awesome place called Flabbergast a few times that has a HUGE climbing thing similar to the ones at McDonald's play place, only better! While Abbie climbs and bounces around little B and I hang out.

Anyway, we've been having a great time. We are heading off to the Pewaukee parade for the fourth of July and then a grill out. I'll post pictures sooner of my little sparklers. HA. I'm such a nerd...

Long Time No Blog!!

Okay, so I know it's been FOREVER since I've posted. So sorry! We have been very busy, and enjoying the summer! I also have gotten into digital scrapbooking which will explain why I've not been keeping up with my blog. I LOVE it!! I have posted one of my most recent layouts. It's so addicting, and almost all of the kits that I've downloaded have been FREE which Nate loves, so I have just been loving it. I also found a website with free handwriting fonts on it, so I'm completely obsessed with that too. If anyone is interested in this stuff, please email me, I'll totally hook you up!

Also, I recently took Abbie to see her first movie in the movie theater. I took her to see "UP", NOT the 3D version for maybe obvious reasons. She ate her popcorn and sat in the seat making comments throughout the entire movie. She didn't get up once. She was completely enthralled. It was SUCH a cute movie too. We totally loved it.

She has completely been talking up a storm. It's awesome. She sings Twinkle Twinkle, which she pronounces as "weekle weekle", she knows her ABC's sorta, and she loves counting to ten, pronouncing six as "cake". So funny. And yes, don't worry, I AM writing all of this stuff down so I don't forget! It's just too darn precious! She is as sassy as ever, and is posing now when I take pictures of her. This isn't that great of a picture from a photography standpoint with the background and all, but I couldn't resist posting it for obvious reasons. HAHA

Lastly, little Brady Boy "B-man" has been doing awesome. He is a TANK for 3 months old. He is eating almost 7 ounces and is getting little pudgy rolls on his thighs which I want to literally EAT. He is SO smiley and has started cooing and squealing at me when I talk to him. I love him. I love his cheeks, I can't stop kissing the! I need a kissing Brady's cheeks intervention. HA! He is very content when he's being held, but still doesn't love to be put down. He's sleeping through the night which has made the biggest difference in my mood during the day.

Well, that's all I can think of as far as updates go, but I'm sure there's more. Nate and I are looking forward to some fun activities this summer, and I'm SO glad that the weather has finally warmed up. It's about time! OH! Happy Easter!

Well, I took the kids on a 5 hour road trip to Minnesota BY MYSELF for Easter. I don't recommend traveling with a newborn and a 2 year old with no help. Needless to say, we made quite a few stops, and I can now recite the words to "A Bug's Life" movie just from listening to it for approximately 10 hours. We did okay though, and I'm glad we went! We spent some great time with my cousins, aunt and uncle, and mom and dad. My little lovies looked so adorable in their Easter garb.

On a more serious note, I've been overwhelmed with the though of how God gave his Son to us because I now know what it feels like to have a son, (and a daughter, just a child in general I guess.) I would sooner give my own life than my child's, but God sacrificed his ONLY child for us. I can't imagine the pain of seeing your child suffer and die the way that Jesus did especially knowing that many people wouldn't care or accept the gift, or even give it the time of day. Just one of the many things I'm learning as a parent. It's truly a gift. I am so thankful that the story had a happy ending and that myself, Nate and our little treasures have a risen savior.

I am a total freak, and I'm sure my children will LOVE my creative costumes when they are older...but hey, I'm a stay at home mom, and I have to keep myself busy somehow!!! I bought the bunny ears at the dollar sections at Target and Wal-Mart, and had some fun with Picasa ( a free photoshop that you can download!!) while Abbie was napping!!! So much fun!! Brady and Abbie cooperated even though I MIGHT have bribed Abbie with a Double Stuffed Oreo. Hey-whatever works, we gotta give mommy her picture ops!!! So, here's nearly ALL of the pictures! Enjoy! Brother and Sister!

Okay, so I FINALLY got Abbie to hold Brady. Up until now, she has actually been not too interested in holding him. Don't get me wrong, she has kissed, hugged, told him "nigh-nigh", etc, but she didn't show any interest in holding him. Today I asked her if she wanted to hold the baby, and she enthusiastically responded with "YEAH!" I tried to shove him in the corner so she couldn't do any damage if she shifted = ). These were the best pics I got... they aren't perfect, but they are definitely a start to the sibling love pics I'm sure I'll keep taking! She liked it so much that she actually had a mini-melt down when Mommy had to take Brady away. It was too sweet. She loves touching his nose for some reason, and his eyes, which is a lot more of a hazard... today she was extremely interested in his hands and feet and has held his hands quite a few times. We were all in our St. Patty's day garb as we are having a party tonight, so it was a perfect photo op! (You can click on the collage to enlarge it! )

Brady Nathan Merritt

Well!!! He's here!!!! I went in to get induced at 6am, they started pitocin at 7, Dr. broke my water at 8, and Brady was born at 10:18 am. CRAZY birth experience. The contractions got REAL intense as soon as the doctor broke my water, so I was able to ask for the epidural right away, it was great. I pushed twice, and he was out! I know some moms reading this right now hate me for that comment! HA! He was 9lbs, 2oz, and 19.5 in. We call him our little linebacker. = ) He is doing great. He is a little jaundiced, which we expected because Abbie was, so he's on the "Billi-Blanket" for a day or two. His levels weren't as high as Abbie's so hopefully we'll be done with that soon. I am doing well, very sore, and very tired, obviously, but under the circumstances we are awesome. We've gotten a lot of help from my parents, and then Nate's mom will come in few days, and my aunt will come as well, so we are blessed to have people who want to help us out! Nate was able to get a week now, and a week later off to have some family time, so that is great too. Thanks so much for all your prayers, support, encouragement etc.

Well, it's finally here, the day when we get to meet our little man! We are going to the hospital at 6 am tomorrow morning to be induced. I'm so excited, scared, nervous, but mostly excited! It's weird having a specific date that you KNOW you're going in to have a baby. It takes a lot of the panic/drama out of the birthing process because you don't have to rush around because your water broke, or worry about timing contractions, so that has been nice. Please pray for a safe, healthy, painless, quick delivery of Brady into the world. We will post pictures as soon as possible! Thanks!

Let me point out a few things...first of all, one of Munch's favorite things now is to be "nakey baby" and run around in her diaper. Please disregard that this particular diaper has not been changed for a good several hours and is very soggy and droopy.

Also...you'll notice her saying "I-gly". We have NO idea where she got that, but it means that she wants to do it by herself and doesn't want anyone else to help her/do it with her.

She was going around telling us all "YOU! I gly." We are assuming that meant she wanted to dance by herself. She had quite the determination....

Also, she came up with this particular dance move by herself, and it's a keeper, let me tell you. Gyration for sure. Watch out Dancing with the Stars... here comes Abbie.

PS I did cut her bangs a little too short.

Well, I am now almost 38 weeks...I'm huge and definitely ready to have a baby!!! We have been trying to soak up all the "alone time" we are having with Abbie before she is not the center of the world anymore. I know she will adjust just fine, but it will be a little sad not having just her to concentrate on. I've scheduled an induction date at 6 am on March 4th. So the longest I can go from today will be 2 weeks, although obviously I'm really hoping to go into labor before then! I'm already dilated to 2 cm, so we'll see what next week's appointment will tell... We are all ready and waiting! I've had some contractions, but nothing consistent. My water broke last time, and we went right in, so I'm not used to timing contractions. It was way easier to have my water break! We'll see!

In other news... Abbie has been talking a lot more. I'm so proud of her!! She is so much fun! The things she comes up with totally cracks me up...We've been trying to teach her how to say Brady, but she can't quite get the R sound down. Oh well. Her new favorite movie is Finding Nemo. She loves all the fish and colors, and I swear she knows the plot line. We finished putting up chair rail and painting her big girl room, and it looks so adorable. I will be sure to post pictures of that as soon as I remember to actually take a picture! These pictures are of her and her friend Eli (who she phonetically calls "Eye-li) coloring together on Color Wonder paper (which is the best invention EVER). They were sharing the paint brushes and "talking" in their own 2 year old language. She's kind of obsessed with him, she's even woken up in the morning a few mornings and called for him! So funny! Well, obviously we will keep everyone updated...

We found this place in Delafield thanks to a friend of mine... it's fabulous in the winter. It's a huge indoor place with murals on the walls and a million things to do!! A 6 foot pirate ship with a ramp up and a slide down...a reading room, an art room, musical instruments, a stage with dress up clothes, moon sand... it's awesome. Munch loves it!!! When my parents and grandparents were in town we went to get out of the house. Abbie had so much fun showing everyone around. Of course it was the coldest day of the year... (I think the high was about -6), so there was literally NOONE there!!! We had the entire place to ourselves. It was so fun. Abbie made a beautiful painting as always. I think she's artistic = )

Here are some pictures of Abbie's 2 year old birthday party!!! We had so much fun! We had to have it the day after her actual birthday because Daddy was on call on the 13th. We had a lot of guests... my parents, grandparents (JJ and Papa), Ryan and Anna, and us! She was extremely overwhelmed with the amount of presents!!! We are having fun playing with them now though. This was a present from Grandma Debbie that Nate finally ended up putting together. Abbie learned a HUGE lesson in patience and delayed gratification as Nate decided to put the horse together while Abbie was awake and in the room. She asked for a ride about 45 times and was trying to be helpful handing Nate the screws, screwdriver, etc. She finally was able to go for a ride, and she named her horse "Hee-Haw". So fun.

Well, I'm sitting her on the computer. I'm waiting for the locksmith to come because on my way to a playdate, yours truly turned the car on...put my purse and cell in the passenger seat...shut the door, and then proceeded to realize that all four doors of the car were LOCKED. Genious. So I called the locksmith and stressed the fact that not only were my keys locked inside my car, but the car was RUNNING. So, I'm biding my time here on the computer so I don't go insane. Here are some really good pics that I took (if I do say so myself) where the catchlights in Munch's eyes are perfect. She was in her cute winter fur vest too!! Neighborhood Christmas Party

So... I hosted the neighborhood Christmas party on Saturday night. It was quite the undertaking. Nate ended up being called into work from being on home call all day, and actually ended up missing the whole party. He came home close to 10. I made a honey baked ham with rolls, homemade spinach/artichoke dip, and prosciutto/provolone pinwheels. I felt so domestic. Abbie was such a trooper. I felt like I neglected her all day because I was cooking and cleaning. She tried to "help" by sweeping, and stirring some of the ingredients in, although I'm not super sure I'd call it "helping". = ) I have more pictures of her in her cute Christmas dress, which I haven't downloaded yet, I'll post them asap. Actually the dress was given to her by Auntie Wendy Kerr when she was BORN, and I finally got to put in on her!! She looked SO sweet! Thanks Auntie Wendy! = ) All the adults took turns checking on the kids downstairs in the basement who were watching a Christmas movie, and then playing around. We were all upstairs enjoying a TON of food and drinks, me with my trusty Diet Coke in hand. The kids were very well behaved. Abbie LOVED having all the kids over, she was laughing and smiling the whole time. She even stayed up until about 9:30 with NO tears, and definitely a second wind. Thanksgiving!

We had a great Thanksgiving Day! I even cooked a Turkey for the first time. It actually turned out decent! Abbie tried the stuffing and the cranberries. Not such a fan apparently. She did LOVE playing with the Rummy Kub tiles and messing up Nate and Amy's game. The next day Ryan and Anna came over for lunch, and it was great to see them. Abbie even learned how to say "Ry-Ry" for the occasion. (Sounded more like Wy-Wy) super cute. I'm excited that Thanksgiving is over because now it's officialy Christmas season!! YEAY! We had to put Abbie in her green Christmas dress to take a family picture. She loved it, and didn't want to take it off. The pictures of her in the red sweater (with the sucker and the blue mouth after the sucker) were from a Thanksgiving party we went to. I had to take pictures because I put her hair in a pony tail and she looked so OLD, but so cute. I might not do that for a while though.... = ) Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and has a great holiday season!!

Play Time!

Well, here is a snap shot into play time at the Merritt house while I'm a stay at home mom. She loves to say "no" when I ask her to do things which is a recent development, and oh so lovely. We got her a boy doll to try and prepare her for Brady (she named the doll Abbie, GREAT!) and she is nice up to a point, and then throws the baby. It's a pattern. Hopefully we can break the pattern before the REAL baby is born, that would be good.

Trick-Or-Treat

Awwww, it was Abbie's first time trick-or-treating. We got the wagon all set up with blankets, and got our costumes on. Of course Nate and I had to go along with the Snow White theme. He was Doc, and I was Sleepy, which was extremely appropriate. Munch didn't really get the whole point that if you go up to the door, someone will give you free candy. She got some, we unwrapped it for her, and then she just held it. At the end of the night, she had a piece of Hershey's in one hand, and a Sweet Tart in the other. Neither of which she tried to eat. This morning I actually found the Sweet Tart in her bed. Anyway, she finally did get a sucker, which is her FAVE, and then she did eat that. Without letting go of the other things of course. It was so quirky and funny!

Debbie, Nate's mom made all three costumes, and they were such a huge success!!! Thanks Grandma Debbie!!! Can't wait for next year when I have TWO little munchkins to dress up.

It's Definitely Fall

We took Munch to a forest type place with lots of hiking trails. Super fun. She was such a trooper and did NOT want to be held at all. She walked by herself the whole way. It was about a mile. Of course she had to stop every 3 seconds to investigate a rock, leaf, or other natural phenomenon. Nate threw leaves on her, then she started doing it to herself, apparently she like the leaves falling right in her face. She also thought that playing hide and seek behind the tree was very entertaining as well. It was a perfect fall day, the weather was mid 60's and the leaves were so pretty. I forgot how much I like fall being in California for the past 5 years. She stood up on a bench and started patting my tummy without me saying ANYTHING. It was so perfect and precious, so glad we had the camera!!

We found out yesterday that we will be expecting a boy at the very beginning of March! His name will be Brady Nathan. Cute right??! = ) Here are the ultrasound pics they gave us. There's a GREAT shot of his wee-wee. That's totally making it into the wedding slideshow for SURE!! = )

Update

First of all, thanks to EVERYONE who has been such a huge support and encouragement during a very difficult time period. I resigned this morning from the position, and will continue for a few weeks, until they get a replacement, but it shouldn't be more than a 1-3 weeks. It was SO the right decision, I just didn't belong there. I am totally happy with my decision, and Nate and I both really feel it was the right thing. The principal and staff were surprisingly respectful and supportive and seemed to understand the motives behind it, so that was good, seeing as though I was sick to my stomach during the day waiting to talk to them and break the news!! Anyway, here are a few random pictures that we had on our computer that I haven't posted. Remember, random is the key word. = ) Thanks again...the support really helped!

Mama's Dilemna

Well, there's going to be no pictures on this, just some much needed, heartfelt venting...

On Friday afternoon, Sept. 26th, my principal called me in to have a meeting. The long and the short of it is this...

They hired me in August to be 2/3 multiage elementary teacher at the public charter school with a focus on science and technology. This meant that instead of having a chunk of time during the day to teach science I would have to attempt to infuse scientific concepts throughout the day. Instead of teaching science isolate, i would have to read and write about science. I THOUGHT I was doing a really good job of this. My class writes in their science journals every day, instead of writing a journal entry about a teddy bear, they write about the life cycle of a butterfly, they sing about weather, they read non-fiction text about erosion, blah blah blah, you get the idea.

The district has also made it clear that as a district we would be focusing on a concept/plan called PLC which stands for Professional Leadership Community or something. It's basically a paradigm shift to look at your colleagues as team members and become vulnerable with each other and really collaborate. Fill in for each other's strengths and weaknesses, give advice, etc. I also THOUGHT I was doing a good job with this.

Well, apparently not. My two colleagues that are part of my PLC team have been apparently complaining to my principal that I was coming to them too much for help. Well, I'm new and they have a year of the charter school under their belt. My principal literally told me that I needed to do everything by myself, take some ownership, and "step up my game". Exact quote. She told me to try to next week to not go to them for anything. Completely goes against everything that PLC stands for.

She also told me that I need to come in earlier and stay later (legally, I'm NOT required to do that). That I need to create my own curriculum. That I need to bring more ideas to the table and share what I'm doing with my team (which is ironic since I'm not allowed to ask them to give me ideas), and that since I'm new and the charter school is still new (and some people don't like it) that I'm constantly under scrutiny and under a microscope, so I need to let those facts guide my actions. Apparently the charter school starting in this community was very political and emotional for many community members since it was something "new" and they didn't necessarily agree with it. So the parents TALK and apparently I have to cater to this.

This goes DIRECTLY against my whole teaching philosophy of doing what's best for kids. I am being told to cater my every move so that my colleagues, and parents are happy and from the outside it looks like I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing.

What also makes me mad is that the two teachers on my team went to the principal without saying a SINGLE word to me. Should my principal have said, if you have a question for Jenn about how she is teaching, when she is leaving, or planning, or whatever, please go talk to her about it. Then, if nothing happens, the principal should step in and get involved.

It was so bad. I cried my eyes out all the way home. Working was a choice for me this year. I am sacrificing time with my child to do this job, and it simply is turning out to NOT be worth it. I am seriously considering terminating my contract. I know that it would leave the school in a lurch, and it would be SUPER awkward the days that I'm working until I leave, people would talk, but I just don't feel it's the place for me. No collaboration, under scrutiny and pressure at all times, hiding in my room with no one to go to, plus to boot, I'm missing out on my daughter's life for a grade level and a school that I am not passionate about. This is something that will be weighing on my heart, and I could really use your thoughts and prayers about what steps to take if any. I don't know what to do. I could stick it out until mid February when I leave for maternity leave, but every second that I have to be there seems like an eternity. I already wasn't loving it, and this just made it a million times worse. I will be praying and thinking a lot this coming week and weekend. Here is a taste of some pics from our Hilton Head Island vacation. It was warm, sunny, and very fun. Abbie got a little bikini tan, which is the cutest thing ever. She was PERFECT the whole week. She had SO much fun in the pool and in the ocean. She learned how to play with the sand better too. It was so fun. I wish Nate could have been there, that was the only thing that was missing! It was a perfect end to a great summer. Mommy is going back to work on September 2nd. It's time.... = ) Hopefully we will be able to go back in 2 years with the TWO kids. Crazy.

Munch has been learning lots in the backyard lately... I know that sounds weird, but in Cali, we didn't have a "yard" just a side deck. She didn't have many chances to experience the swing set, slides, or even GRASS under her feet. She was totally freaked walking on it at first, and now she's gotten used to it. She LOVES the slide and totally throws a fit when we make her come in. It's SO hard to stop playing sometimes! She swung on the swing a little, but then wanted to get off. She loved it...I think we loved it more!!

Okay, so I KNOW it's been forever since I've posted, and for good reason, we've kind of been busy... We moved, bought a new car, found a leak under the sink, then a gas leak in the basement... lovely. Anyway, here are some pics of the house, and a few of 4th of July. Not my idea to give Abbie a cupcake, she was so hyper the rest of the night.... but so cute! We had a great time, and the house is definitely coming together. The only room that I don't have a picture of is the master bedroom because we still don't have a bed... it was backordered. So... it's been a crazy time of emotional highs and lows this past week. I've been crying on and off saying goodbye to DEAR friends one at a time...Anyway.... we are off to Milwaukee tomorrow midday. We will fly into Minnesota first and then driving to Milwaukee on Friday, painting the house, then moving in. I'm so nervous and excited at the same time. The HARDEST thing was saying goodbye to the school and families that I've been working with for the past 5 years. My friend and job share partner cleaned up our classroom, and turned in our keys. I balled my eyes out. As I drove away from French Valley Elementary I had flashes of the first day i walked in, my first class, the first time I met my friends...so hard. It was so much more than a job. That's what I will probably miss the most about Southern California...well, that.... and the weather. But...off to a new adventure I guess. It's so hard to say goodbye...

One of the pictures is of me leading our 5th grade class in their promotion ceremony. We sang the song "All For One" from high school musical 2...except I changed the words a little. I cried when we read the poem outloud to our kids at the end, I cried when Andrea announced to all the parents that I was leaving, and the stood up and clapped....it was so hard. The kids performed flawlessly though. = ) I will miss them so much. I will miss everyone so much.

Okay, I am officially a psycho-mom. It's a darn good thing I had a little girl. Yikes. Yes, yes, I did do exactly what it looks like in the pictures. How many moms do you know that paint their 16 month olds toenails and fingernails. Probably just one. Me. She was fascinated with the whole process, and stayed perfectly still while I polished and blew on her nails to dry them. It was the funniest thing ever. Then she held up her nails and went "oooohahhhhh". Her version of "oooooh, pretty" I'm sure. She didn't smudge them, didn't cry, didn't pull her feet or hands away while I was doing it. She is her mothers daughter, and I love her.

Crazy Munch and I went over to the Kerr's house for a Mama's Day barbecue. It was very fun, except for the fact that little girl was CRANKY PANTS the whole time. You can see by the last picture (which Wendy's son took) that she had had enough. Her hair was out of the pigtails, she was stumbling around fussing. It bugged, especially on Mother's Day. Nate was on call all day Sunday and Sunday night, so I had no relief. Anyway, it was better than sitting at home alone. Happy Mother's Day 2008!

I finally am able to fit Munch's hair into REAL pig tails. It was so fun, although they did look a little bit like horns. She loves to go up and down the stairs and play around (fun for me, since I get to chase her up and down the stairs) so I decided to take the opportunity to do a photo shoot of her first real piggies. Okay, so first of all, I put all of Munch's hair back in a pony tail and she looked like a LITTLE GIRL and not a baby = ( I decided I wouldn't do that for a while even though it was super cute.

On a different note, my mom and I found this adorable pink chair at target. It's totally Abbie sized and she loves sitting in it. She likes munchin' in it too. As you can see, she was sitting her eating her little corn puffs and watching cartoons. Lovin the life of a one year old.

On another different note, I decided to train for a half marathon. I'm crazy, because I don't especially like running. It's just something to keep me in shape, and I really want to say that I've done it. I did my first run (only 3 miles) on Friday night, and it just about did me in. I ran the whole way though without stopping, so I guess that's a good start. I'm very motivated right now, but we'll see how I feel in a few weeks...what am I thinking??!

So, being the dorky teacher that I am, I went a little crazy with the green on St. Patty's Day. The kids loved it. My shirt said "The leprechaun made me do it", it got a lot of laughs. We came home and took some pics, and laughed. It was a good time. I wish I could have spent the day with MY little leprechaun, but she had fun at daycare with her buds. I got to go to school and do a math activity with Lucky Charms. It was a good time.

Well, I'm now officially the mother of a WALKER! Munch took her first steps yesterday (3/11) afternoon. Daddy had been practicing with her, and then she decided to walk from the end table to where he was sitting at the kitchen table ALL BY HERSELF! A little unsteady still, but she did it! We are so proud (and also looking forward to the extra calories that will be burned from chasing a toddling toddler). Yeay for Abbie!

He was born on February 25th, but had to stay in the hospital for 9 days due to respiratory issues (which is why you see the little bandaid on the side of his head = () He is home and well now. Heather and Jackson, and me and Abbie went to Old Town today so Heather and I could experiment with out cameras. We both have the same one, so it was fun to talk about it and how obsessed we both are. I personally think she looks like a freaking MODEL in the picture I took. It looks like I had a fan on her to make her hair look windblown. Nope! Just the wind! Jackson's eyes looked BEAUTIFUL in the sun. Then there's Abbie's TEETH!! I am getting lots of gruff for not updating my blog, so here I go...

We had lots of fun in MN for Christmas and New Years, and my friend Sarah Wolfe took more pics. We also got locked out in the COLD while we were doing the photo shoot, which was not super fun. Oh well, the pictures turned out great!!

We celebrated Munch's first birthday on the 13th. I can NOT believe she's one year old already. She just gets cuter and cuter every day. I haven't downloaded her birthday pics quite yet, so as soon as I do, I'll post again. I know, you'll believe it when you see it = )

At her one year appointment she was 31 in. long and 20 lbs. 3 oz. She just a little bit of a thing.

She is standing, cruising, saying mama and dada, although sometimes she calls me dada. = ) She also says uh-oh, but it sounds more like "uh-uh". Super cute.

She has become a very picky little eater and is asserting her independence more and more (aka throwing FITS when she doesn't like something-great.) We are trying the sippy cup and she mostly has gotten the hang of it, except that she doesn't know how to tip it all the way up when it gets low. Her favorite finger food now is chunks of bananas and cheerios. Yum! She will definitely SPIT out her food if she doesn't like it.

Okay, so obviously I couldn't take munch trick or treating since everyone would know that the candy would be for Daddy and Mommy. Lame. Anyway, we went with some friends to a harvest festival put on by our church. It was fun, there was candy, rides, games, etc, but most of all, just fun to see the costumes and to have a night out to socialize. Munch was so good, and SO cute. Although, one lady did come up to me and asked "How old is he?" I said, "SHE is 9 months" Seriously, just because her glittery fairy costume was blue??! If a girl was wearing a blue princess dress, does that mean she has to look like a boy??! Weird. Anyway, it was fun. Can't wait to do my Halloween scrapbook page. Yes, I'm a nerd.

9 Month Check Up

We took Munch to her 9 month Dr.'s appointment about a week ago, and here's her stats:

19 lbs. (50th percentile)
28.5 in. (50th percentile)
I can't remember her head circumference, but it was small, she was only in the 25th percentile for that.

She has had two colds now, seriously one on top of the other, she has a fungus similar to jock itch I'm told on her little bottom, and two teeth have popped through at once. She's kinda a mess, but still smiley and happy amazingly. This just in, she is what we like to call "army crawling". She totally pulls herself across the carpet, but on her stomach still. She's taken one normal crawl "step" though. She's gonna be EVERYWHERE real soon!!! = )

Punkin' Patch!

Okay, so I know I just posted pics from the apple orchard, but a friend and I just went to the pumpkin patch too (thanks Heather, loved it!). Abbie, Nate, me, and our friends, John and Erin, went to a GORGEOUS apple/pumpkin/raspberry, etc. picking spot. Actually, there were several different spots. It was beautiful out. We had apples, made our own cider, and had cinnamon mini-doughnuts.... I threw out my caloric intake for the day. Abigail had a blast. She loved all the colors.

Well, the biggest news on the homefront is that Munch had her first "real" food yesterday. We gave her a cracker. She will definitely need some more practice, as she had NO idea what to do with it. She made funny faces to say the least. She finally started sucking on it, and it got all nice and soggy. She ate about half of it. She likes to play with her food more than actually eating it. Other news: apparently she loves to surf the net... and we got her all decked out for the pool and went swimming. She kept trying to "grab" the water and bubbles. Fun. She will be 8 months this Thursday, which is extremely hard to believe. She is so much fun!!

Well, Abigail decided that she would learn how to balance today, and she sat up! Kinda... she was in the sitting position, and when she would fall forward, she would support herself with her hands, so she stayed in the sitting position. YEAY!! I was so proud.... also, at 61/2 months, she got her first hair cut. As you can see, mommy just trimmed her bangs straight across. The top part of her hair (her toupee as we call it) has grown sooo long, that is was starting to get in her eyes!! I think it looks soooo cute trimmed. She has a little loopy pony on top of her head! Love it!!!

Back from Minnesota!

Nate and Abbie and I had a great 2 1/2 weeks in Minnesota. Well, Daddy was only there for four days, but we had a great time! I got together with another mommy friend of mine from highschool, Jenn Moore, and Tegan and Abbie got along just great! = ) I had two baby showers, one with the Merritt's, and one with a group of high school friends. So fun! Great grandma and grandpa came to meet their great granddaughter, and last but not least, Nate's brother Aaron got married! It was an eventful, and fun vacation... not back to the real world. School starts in a couple of weeks! Ah! Oh! And to brag a little bit... when we got home last night at 12:30 a.m., I walked into the family room to find a brand new micro suede sectional couch that my husband had purchased and put in our house while I was in MN! It was so fun! Thanks for the patience with no updates for a while, we forgot to bring the cord that hooks up the camera to the computer. Whoops! I know everyone has been holding their breath for an update, well, okay, now you can breathe. Have a great week!

The solids have begun! We gave Munch some rice cereal mixed with formula. She like it! She basically liked to chew on the spoon too, I think she's teething. She got about 1/2 a tablespoon of cereal in her... if it even got IN her, most if it was on her face and bib! Oh well, mommy had a good time putting together the high chair and watching Abbie's facial expressions. So cute! She's also laughing now occassionally. She had done it about 5 times. Something different has caused it every time, and each time we try to repeat it, she won't laugh again. Oh well, it's basically the cutest noise in the whole world!

Loooooong Blog

Okay, lots to update!! First of all, Nate and I drove up to Grandma and Grandpa Merritt's for fathers day. We dropped little one off, and enjoyed a weekend of wine tasting in Sonoma and Napa. We stayed at the Sonoma Mission Inn. It was BEAUTIFUL!!

My taste for red wine is getting better, but I still like the super sweet whites. Basically like alcoholic kool-aid. HA!

THEN... we picked up the baby and traveled to Santa Cruz where we stayed at an ADORABLE little beach house. We walked along the beach, had cook outs with friends, went on runs, it was GREAT! We went to Monterey for a day, drove around down town Santa Cruz, checked out the surf shops... Munch had a great time in her sun hat and sunglasses. She is a sun girl just like her mother!

Long Lost Update!

So sorry I haven't written in so long. School has been CRAZY. I have 5 more days, YES!!! This update is dedicated to Jenn Moore = ) We haven't tried cereal yet, although the doctor said we could. I've been holding off until school is done to add another change in her schedule... however, we did have a major even withing the last few weeks... Daddy graduated from medical school! It was so fun! He's officially a doctor, and we'll be making a double income next year. YES!!! Abbie cooperated as always, and was such a good girl throughout the ceremony! She is now rolling over, batting at her toys, and spitting everywhere! Love to all! Abbie and Jenn

First of all, here is what we look like after out shower with Daddy. HA! She loves to have her hair washed and dried. Unfortunately, this is what it looks like after it's dried. We promptly have to brush it. She like the brushing too. Have a happy week!

Also, we love our bumbo! She looks so cute sitting up! Her head gets a little wobbly from time to time, but this "chair" is amazing! She can sit up, even though she doesn't know how!! = ) She sits in it and watches sports with Dad. He's convince she loves sports, although I think it may have more to do with the bright, flashing lights.

Our little girl turned 4 months on Sunday. Nate and I drove up to his parents house in Northern Cali for a baby dedication service that his dad was doing. We dedicated Abigail to the Lord, and had a great mother's day!! Nate TOTALLY splurged and got me the new coach diaper bag, which we could not afford, which makes me love it even more!! = ) He's SO good to me. Little one did SO WELL during the service. She "talked" a little, but didn't cry. She loved the loud music. She looked soooo cute. (Duh, as always!!) Happy Mother's Day!!!

Little Munchy has been soooo talkative lately. Her little "coo's" are so precious. What even more precious are the cute facial expressions she makes as she's talking. Gosh, who would have thought that something so simple could just make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside = ). She spent the day with Daddy today since Mom had to work. They played, then went to Dad's softball game. She was passed around endlessly and she was still all smiles at the end of the day. She was "talking" to everyone. I love it!!!

Okay, I know that Easter was a while ago, but seeing as though I need to download more pictures, and I already HAVE these pictures on the computer, this will have to do for now. I joined the world of blogging, YEAY! Since we have so many family and friends out of state, who love our little one, I hope this will be yet another way for them to keep up-to-date with the life and times of our new little family.
